PESCE™: fish, faith and geometry
The story behind the studio's wall collection, and the three pieces that carry it.
Pesce is Italian for fish. The collection took its name from its first piece: a panel carved with the Ichthys, the two crossing arcs that early Christians drew in the dust as a quiet sign of faith. It is one of the oldest marks a human hand makes, and it asks to be carved rather than printed.
ichthys
The Ichthys panel sets the mark in relief inside a deep-toned frame, the carving picked out in a pale wash. It hangs in living rooms and entryways, and just as often in prayer rooms and churches. It brings a stillness with it that we did not fully design and do not fully take credit for.
élan trio
Élan Trio is the collection's second voice: three carved silhouettes celebrating simplicity and the beauty of feminine form. Grace in every curve. Each figure is cut from treated rubberwood and carries its own grain, so every set of three is unrepeatable.
orbita grid
The Orbita Grid is the geometric register: squares and circular openings in strict rhythm, depth doing the work that colour usually does. It reads as architecture at the scale of a wall.
